Philippians 1:12–14 (NIV84)

12 Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel. 13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. 14 Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly.

Why is it Christians, especially in the U.S. and Canada, think they are supposed to have an easy life because they are saved? Scripture tells us the exact opposite and tells us to rejoice in our sufferings. Jesus suffered, all the disciples suffered so WHY do we think we are better than them and DESERVE no sufferings? You see the flesh wants it's comfort. What I mean is the desire to eat what I want, do what I want, and live the way I want all come from the flesh which scripture tells us is sinful because of the fall. A Christians heart should say to God your will be done no matter the cost, no matter the location and no matter when.
