Matthew 7:21 (NIV84)
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

If you are in church every time the doors open, read your bible daily and pray often and your comfort is center of your life then this applies to you. Jesus said in Luke 14:26 (NIV84)
26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple. Why would anyone think for a moment that our comfort is more important than doing God’s will? Stop living for comfort and start living for Christ!!!

Philippians 1:12–14 (NIV84)

12 Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel. 13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. 14 Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly.

Why is it Christians, especially in the U.S. and Canada, think they are supposed to have an easy life because they are saved? Scripture tells us the exact opposite and tells us to rejoice in our sufferings. Jesus suffered, all the disciples suffered so WHY do we think we are better than them and DESERVE no sufferings? You see the flesh wants it's comfort. What I mean is the desire to eat what I want, do what I want, and live the way I want all come from the flesh which scripture tells us is sinful because of the fall. A Christians heart should say to God your will be done no matter the cost, no matter the location and no matter when.

Rahab Joshua 2

This is the story of Rahab and the two spies Joshua sent out to view the land, especially Jericho. While there the spies met Rahab and went to her home. Now, how all this came about we don’t know. I have heard people make the joke about her profession and 2 men but I kind of doubt that because of who Rahab is. Rahab is a Canaanite who are to be destroyed and are cursed by God. This in and of itself would stop them from touching her. She was unclean in Biblical terms. On top of being a Canaanite she was a prostitute which made her doubly unclean and doubly an abomination to God. So, it is highly unlikely they were there for sex.

It is commonly known, even today, if you need information about the people of the community the people to talk to are bartenders and those in the streets who deal with them regularly. The reason is people talk to bartenders when they are drunk and tell them things they shouldn’t and men talk in bed and tell women things the shouldn’t. It’s called pillow talk. So, I think the spies were there talking to those in the street and found someone willing to help who God had opened the door for because of her confession about Israel and God in verses 9-11.

Once the King heard about the men, more reason to suspect they had asked around in the streets, he sent men out looking for the spies. Who would know better how to hide men than a promiscuous woman? I would assume Rahab had hidden many married men over her time as a prostitute to protect them from their wives. God had this entire thing set up from the beginning to protect the spies but also, Rahab is part of the lineage of Jesus.

The last point I want to make here is God used Rahab because there was no way any man could say I gave the Canaanites into the hands of Israel and thus take God’s glory. God will always do things in such a way as no one can ever take credit for it. That is one reason He always waits till the last second to show you the way out. So you nor any one else can take credit for it.

Always give God the Glory and remember God uses those we consider unclean to bless and protect His people.
